Australia’s GTI Program to attract the highly skilled talent globally

Australia's Global Talent Independent Program, also known as the Global Talent Visa Program, aims to attract highly skilled professionals and high-value businesses to the country to boost its economy. The program targets individuals and businesses that bring capital, ideas and networks to Australia, by creating a streamlined pathway for them to come and live in the country permanently.

The program focuses on 10 future-focused sectors such as innovation and tech economies, with an aim to create job opportunities and transfer skills in Australia. The program also grants Permanent Residency Visa to those accepted, allowing them to make a new life in the culturally diverse and cosmopolitan country that offers a business-friendly environment, strong trading links and opportunities for innovation. 15,000 spaces are available for the GTI Program in 2020-21.

ELIGIBILITY FOR THE GLOBAL TALENT VISA PROGRAM

To be eligible for a visa under Australia's Global Talent Independent Program (GTI), the candidate must be highly skilled in one of the 10 target sectors, which include

  • Agri-food and AgTech
  • Circular Economy
  • Defence
  • Advanced Manufacturing and Space
  • DigiTech
  • Education
  • Energy
  • Financial Services and FinTech
  • Health Industries
  • Infrastructure, and
  • Tourism and Resources

Additionally, the candidate must be able to attract a salary that meets or exceeds the high-income threshold, currently set at AUD 153,600 as per Fair Work. This threshold is subject to annual adjustments.

Requirements for Australia's Global Talent Independent Program

The GTI visa, also known as the Global Talent Independent visa, is an Australian visa program designed to attract highly skilled professionals from around the world. GTI visa requirements, to be eligible for the GTI visa, applicants must meet several requirements. First, they must have a recognized achievement in one of the seven target sectors, which include technology, academia, research, and STEM fields. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate exceptional abilities and achievements in their respective fields. They should have a track record of outstanding accomplishments, awards, and international recognition. English language proficiency is also a requirement, usually assessed through language tests such as IELTS or TOEFL.
