Oman visit visa for Indians
Indians need a visa to visit Oman, and most apply for the Royal Oman Police eVisa online before they fly. The common tourist options are 10 days, 30 days, or a one year multiple entry visa, with a 14 day arrival exception for holders of certain visas.
Data current as of June 2026
What the Oman visit visa covers
The Oman visit visa lets you enter the Sultanate for a short stay. It suits tourism, visiting family or friends, and short business meetings such as a conference or a client visit. It does not allow paid work or long study, which need separate routes.
Oman runs a fully digital eVisa system through the Royal Oman Police, and evisa.rop.gov.om is the only official place to apply. Indian passport holders cannot get a general visa on arrival at Muscat airport, so you arrange the eVisa first, unless you qualify for the 14 day arrival exception or the GCC resident route described below. Fees and rules are set by the Royal Oman Police and can change, so confirm the current figures on the official portal before you apply.
Which route are you on?
Before you pay for anything, work out which of the three routes fits you. The right route decides your visa type, your fee, and how long you can stay.
Most travellers
Route 1
Direct eVisa
You apply online through the Royal Oman Police portal and carry the approved eVisa to the airport.
- 10 day, 30 day, or one year multiple entry options
- Single official portal, evisa.rop.gov.om
- Usually decided in about 1 to 5 working days
Visa holders
Route 2
14 day arrival exception
If you hold a valid visa or residence permit from certain countries, you may be allowed a short stay without a separate eVisa.
- Qualifying visa from the US, UK, Schengen, Canada, Australia, or Japan
- Stay of up to 14 days
- Carry a return ticket, hotel booking, and health insurance
Gulf residents
Route 3
GCC resident
Indians living in another Gulf country, in most professions, can visit Oman on a relaxed residency based route.
- Valid residence permit in another GCC country
- Often a 28 day single entry route
- Some categories are excluded, so confirm first
Rules for each route are set by the Royal Oman Police and can change. Confirm your route on evisa.rop.gov.om or ask us before you book travel.

How the Oman eVisa works, end to end
The eVisa is fully online. You apply on the official portal, receive an approval with a QR code by email, and show it at Muscat immigration with your supporting papers.

What you can visit Oman for
The visit visa covers short, temporary stays. The portal lists tourist options by duration, and the code in brackets is the type you choose on screen.
Holidays, road trips, the Wahiba Sands, Wadi Shab, Muscat and the forts. Choose the 10 day or 30 day option to match your trip.
Visiting relatives or friends who live in Oman. You travel as a visitor, and your host can provide a stay address and an invitation if asked.
Meetings, a conference, or a short client visit. This does not allow you to take up paid employment, which needs a sponsored work visa.
The one year multiple entry visa suits travellers who visit Oman several times in a year, with up to 30 days per stay.
If you only connect through Oman and stay airside, you may not need a visit visa. If you want to leave the airport, arrange the right visa before you fly.
Oman tourist eVisa options compared
These are the common unsponsored tourist options on the Royal Oman Police portal. Fees are in Omani rial and you pay in your card currency at the rate on the day.
| Option | Type | Entries | Stay | Fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 day tourist | 26A | Single | Up to 10 days | about OMR 5 |
| 30 day tourist | 26B | Single | Up to 30 days | about OMR 20 |
| One year multiple entry | 36M | Multiple | Up to 30 days per stay | about OMR 50 |
| GCC resident visit | GCC | Single | Up to 28 days | about OMR 5 |
Visa codes and fees are set by the Royal Oman Police and can change. Some 30 day eVisa types are extendable once. Confirm the exact type, fee, and stay on evisa.rop.gov.om before you apply.
Documents you need for an Oman visit visa
A clean set of documents is the fastest route to an approval. Most refusals come from blurred scans or details that do not match the passport.
| Document | What to check |
|---|---|
| Passport | Valid for at least six months from your date of entry, with at least two blank pages for the entry stamp. |
| Passport bio page scan | Clear, in colour, no glare. Upload within the file size the portal asks for. |
| Photograph | Recent passport style photo on a plain white background, no selfies or coloured backgrounds. |
| Return or onward ticket | Confirmed travel out of Oman within your visa validity. |
| Hotel or stay proof | A confirmed hotel booking, or your host address if staying with family. |
| Funds proof | Recent bank statements showing you can support the trip. |
| Health insurance | Advised for all visitors, and required for the 14 day arrival exception. |
Make sure the name on your application matches your passport exactly. A mismatch in spelling or name order is a common reason for delay or refusal. We review documents before you submit.
Oman visit visa fees
The Royal Oman Police charges the government fee in Omani rial. You pay online with an international card, in your card currency at the rate that day.
| Option | Government fee | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 10 day tourist | about OMR 5 | Single entry, short trips. |
| 30 day tourist | about OMR 20 | Single entry, the common choice. |
| One year multiple entry | about OMR 50 | Better value for frequent travellers. |
| GCC resident visit | about OMR 5 | For qualifying Gulf residents. |
Apply directly on evisa.rop.gov.om to pay only the government fee. Third party sites often add charges. Fees can change, so confirm the current figure on the official portal.
What to do before you travel to Oman
A little planning before you apply saves time and avoids a re-upload. Run through this short list before you start.
Do Prepare
- Check your passport has six months validity and two blank pages.
- Apply within about three weeks of travel, since the visa has an issue window.
- Use refundable hotel bookings for your application.
- Keep clear scans ready in the file sizes the portal asks for.
- Apply on evisa.rop.gov.om and pay only the government fee.
Avoid Pitfalls
- Do not apply far ahead of travel and let the issue window lapse.
- Do not upload blurred scans or photos with coloured backgrounds.
- Do not enter a name that differs from your passport.
- Do not rely on a single blank page crowded by other stamps.
- Do not travel if you have a past overstay in a Gulf country unresolved.

Oman visit visa dos and donts
A short reminder of what helps and what causes trouble, for the application and for your stay.
Do Smart moves
- Apply on the official Royal Oman Police portal only.
- Carry your eVisa, return ticket, hotel proof, and funds proof.
- Carry valid health insurance for the trip.
- Dress modestly outside resort areas, as Oman is conservative.
- Leave before your visa expires or arrange an extension in time.
Avoid Risky moves
- Do not work or take up employment on a visit visa.
- Do not overstay, since fines accrue at about OMR 10 per day.
- Do not assume a visa on arrival, which Indians cannot get.
- Do not pay inflated fees to unofficial visa sites.
- Do not give details that do not match your passport.
What to do once you are in Oman
A few habits keep your stay smooth and keep your record clean for future trips.
Keep a copy of your eVisa, passport, and return ticket on your phone and on paper. Note your last day of stay and plan to leave with a margin, since overstaying carries a daily fine and a record that can affect later applications. Respect local dress and customs, especially outside Muscat and the resorts. If your plans change and you need more time, ask the Royal Oman Police about an extension before your visa expires, since not every type can be extended and the rules can change.
How long you can stay and entry types
Your stay and entries depend on the option you chose. The exact dates are shown on your visa.
| Option | Entries | Maximum stay | Extension |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 day tourist | Single | Up to 10 days | Generally not extended |
| 30 day tourist | Single | Up to 30 days | Some types extendable once |
| One year multiple entry | Multiple | Up to 30 days per stay | Visit again within the year |
| GCC resident visit | Single | Up to 28 days | Extendable once |
| 14 day exception | Single | Up to 14 days | Not extended |
Entry types and stay lengths are set by the Royal Oman Police and can change. Confirm what your visa permits before you travel.
What officers look for, and refusal reasons
A visa lets you travel to the border. The immigration officer at Muscat makes the final decision on entry, so carry your supporting papers.
Most refusals trace back to a few avoidable mistakes: a blurred scan, a name that does not match the passport, a passport with under six months validity, weak financial proof, or a past overstay in a Gulf country.

Submitting documents does not guarantee a visa, and a visa does not guarantee entry. Approval is never guaranteed. We offer guidance and application support, not legal advice, and we cannot speed up or influence the decision of the Royal Oman Police. What we can do is help you submit a clean, accurate application and prepare for the questions officers ask.
